How it fits into the price
Fuel levies are fixed amounts in cents per litre. They do not move with the oil price or the exchange rate, and they are the same in every pricing zone. Together the fuel levy and the Road Accident Fund levy make up about 22% of the Petrol 95 price in Gauteng.
Price change from the previous month
No change to the fuel levy was announced for October 2026. The whole of the month’s increase came from the basic fuel price and a 4.38 c/l rise in the slate levy.
How to use this price information
Because levies change only with the Budget, usually from April, they are not a reason for month-to-month price moves. For the current split of the price, see the fuel price breakdown.
