What this website is
PetrolPrice.co.za is an independent information website. We publish South African petrol, diesel, paraffin and LPG price data, historical records, explanatory guides and calculators. We are not a fuel retailer, we do not sell fuel, and we are not affiliated with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, the Central Energy Fund, or any oil company or service-station brand.
Accuracy of the information we publish
We take accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly when they are reported. However, you should understand three things about the figures on this site before relying on them.
Regulated petrol prices versus wholesale diesel baselines
Petrol carries a legally regulated retail price in South Africa. Diesel and illuminating paraffin do not. Where we publish diesel or paraffin figures, these are official wholesale baselines. Individual service stations set their own retail margins, so the price you pay at the pump will legitimately differ from the figure shown here, and will differ between outlets.
Projected figures
Some pages show projected prices ahead of the official monthly announcement. These are forecasts based on Central Energy Fund under-recovery data and are clearly labelled as projections. They are not official figures and may differ from the final adjustment gazetted by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. We replace projections with confirmed figures once they are published.
No warranty
The content on this site is provided on an “as is” basis. While we make reasonable efforts to keep it current and correct, we do not warrant that every figure, calculation or statement is accurate, complete or up to date at the moment you read it.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this website constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal or business advice. Our calculators produce estimates based on the inputs you provide and the assumptions we state; they are planning aids, not a substitute for professional advice or for your own verification. Do not use this site as your sole basis for a commercial, contractual or financial decision. If a decision carries material consequences, verify the current official price directly and consult an appropriate professional.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, PetrolPrice.co.za and the people who operate it will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or anything published on it. This includes loss of profit, loss of savings, business interruption, or costs incurred as a result of a price figure that proves to be incorrect, out of date or superseded. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
Intellectual property
The written content, layout, calculators and compiled datasets on this site are our intellectual property. The underlying fuel prices themselves are official government figures and are not owned by us.
You may quote short extracts for commentary, research or reporting provided you attribute them to PetrolPrice.co.za and link to the page you took them from. You may not republish substantial portions of the site, scrape it systematically, or resell our compiled data without written permission. For commercial access to our data, see the Fuel Price Data API or contact us.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the site in a way that damages it, interferes with its availability, or degrades it for other users.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system.
- Do not scrape or harvest content at a rate or scale that places an unreasonable load on the site. If you need bulk data, use the API.
- Do not submit unlawful, abusive or misleading content through our contact form.
Third-party links
This site links to external websites, including official government sources, industry bodies and news publications. We provide those links because they are useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.
Advertising
This site may display advertising. Advertisements are served by third parties and their presence does not imply that we endorse the advertiser, its products or its claims. Availability
