Who we are
PetrolPrice.co.za is a South African fuel-price information website. We publish petrol, diesel, paraffin and LPG price data, calculators and historical records. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time through our contact page.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you complete the form on our contact page, we collect the name, email address, enquiry category and message you submit. We use this solely to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect limited technical information when you visit. This includes your approximate location (usually at city or region level, derived from your IP address), device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and how long you spend on a page. This information is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and to keep the site working. We do not use it to build a profile that identifies you personally.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store payment card details, identity numbers, or physical addresses. We do not sell personal information. We do not require an account to use this website.

Third parties we use
We use a small number of established service providers. Each processes information under its own privacy terms:

Advertising
This site may display advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Why we are allowed to process your information
Under POPIA we rely on the following grounds. Where you submit the contact form, we rely on your consent and on the need to respond to your enquiry. Where we measure site usage and protect the site from abuse, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website. Where advertising is served, we rely on consent for non-essential cookies.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages: retained for up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Analytics data: retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics, typically 14 months.
- Server and security logs: typically retained for up to 30 days.
Information sent outside South Africa
Several of the providers listed above are based outside South Africa and may process information in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. POPIA permits this where the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements providing an adequate level of protection. Each provider named above operates under such contractual terms.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, misleading or out of date.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have grounds to keep.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on your consent.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.
To exercise any of these rights, use our contact page and select “Privacy or data-protection request”. We will respond within a reasonable period and in any event within the timeframes POPIA requires.

Children
This website publishes general fuel-price information and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection and sits behind a content delivery and security layer. We keep the site and its components updated. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the limited information we hold.
Accuracy of the fuel-price information we publish
This is an information website. Fuel prices are set monthly by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, and we publish those figures alongside our own analysis. Petrol prices are regulated at retail; diesel and paraffin figures are wholesale baselines and actual pump prices vary by service station. Pages that show projected figures ahead of an official announcement are clearly marked as projections. We take accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly, but you should not rely on this site as your sole basis for a financial or commercial decision. Please tell us if you spot an error.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected here rather than communicated individually.
