Current fuel-price assumptions

Your local price depends on which of the 54 pricing zones you are in. Gauteng and the coast are the two benchmarks; other zones are a set number of cents above or below Gauteng.

What does vary near you

Worked example

A rewards scheme paying back 50 cents per litre is worth R25.00 on a 50-litre fill. Driving an extra 10 km to a station in a cheaper zone to save 10 cents per litre is worth R5.00, less than the fuel used to get there.

How the calculation works

Saving = (price difference per litre) × (litres bought) − (cost of any extra driving). For petrol the price difference inside a zone is always zero.
