Official figures — October 2026. These are the confirmed prices published by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR), effective Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Petrol 93 rose 312 c/l, petrol 95 rose 333 c/l, diesel 500ppm rose 284 c/l, diesel 50ppm rose 324 c/l and illuminating paraffin rose 358 c/l. The previous official prices took effect on 2 September 2026.
You can show South African fuel prices in an app without an API, because the official price changes only once a month. PetrolPrice.co.za does not currently offer an API or data feed; this page explains how to use the published figures.

How South African fuel price data works
- One official change a month, on the first Wednesday.
- Petrol has a fixed pump price per zone; diesel is a wholesale price and the pump price varies.
- Inland (Gauteng) and coastal prices differ by about 87 cents per litre.
How to keep the figures current
- Keep the current prices in a small configuration record your app downloads from your own server.
- Update that record once a month after the announcement.
- Cache it in the app, with the effective date, so it works offline.
Good practice
- Always show the effective date next to the price.
- Say whether a figure is inland or coastal.
- Label diesel as a wholesale price, or describe it as indicative.
- Do not present a forecast as an official price.
